Many tourism companies in Svalbard can welcome tourists again this week after the Governor has reviewed their anti-Coronavirus infection plans.

“We are consistently pleased with the work done by the individual companies,” said assistant governor Sølvi Elvedahl on the Governor’s website.

The basis and guide for the plans is prepared by Visit Svalbard and quality assured by the Directorate of Health and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The plans have been reviewed by the Governor and the overall doctor-in-charge of infection control.

Two companies have been asked to adjust their plans.

No companies in Svalbard can resume the tourism business until the plans have been reviewed and received feedback by the Governor and the overall doctor-in-charge of infection control.
