Possible strike at nine hospitals

Nine hospitals could be hit by strike unless Spectrum and health receiver academy agree on how the working hours of doctors in hospitals to be determined.

Mediation deadline is midnight on Wednesday and health receiver academy has notified walkout for a total of 313 members in two stages. Most are hospital doctors, but also other organized participates in strike outlet.

Exhaustion

Parties stood steeply from each other when negotiations broke down before the holiday, and ahead of mediation have war of words intensified.

Medical Association warns against exploitation of doctors if employers win acceptance for their demands to change the system of collective rolling shifts and replacing it with individual shifts.

– It will almost give the employer carte blanche to give several long weeks and higher workloads. It gives a risk of compromising patient safety, said the president of the Association Marit Hermansen to NTB before mediation started Monday.

Stepped up Friday

From Wednesday up to 194 members could strike at Oslo University Hospital, Østfold, Bergen Health center, Stavanger Health center and Finnmark Hospital.

Friday strike escalate up an additional 119 health workers at Akershus University Hospital, Vestre Viken, Vestfold Hospital and St. Olav’s Hospital.
