Power employees were asked to work for free

Employees in the electronics chain Power have repeatedly worked in the stores on public holidays without getting paid, according to E24.

Current and former employees of Power, among them several bosses, say to the online newspaper that high work pressure and regular under-staffing has made it impossible to perform important tasks during business hours.

Employees say they have been asked to come to work on holidays – all without getting paid.

When asked by E24, HR manager Morten Hovland confirmed “nonconformity” with free work and violation of the Working Environment Act (arbeidsmiljøloven) in Power stores. He emphasised that these are the exceptions, and says that in cases where bosses have acted in violation of the rules, the Power management has come with severe reactions.
