The police Immigration were deporting a record number of foreigners last year and this year it could be even more.
In all, 7,825 people were deported from Norway last year. Never before has the Police Immigration Service (PU) carried out so many deportations during one year. One in three were punished.
PU conducted 8 percent or more deportations in 2015 compared with the previous year, according to statistics that was published Monday. The agency has thus more than met the government’s goal, which was to have carried out 7,800 people last year.
Immigration Minister Sylvi Listhaug congratulated the PU with a “fantastic job done during 2015”.
