Ruter warned people against pressing a link in the SMS, which according to Aftenposten newspaper was sent out on Friday.

‘’It was not sent out by Ruter, and is probably a scam attempt’’ said Øystein Dahl Johansen, press agent in Ruter, to the newspaper.

He stated that the public transport company in Oslo and Akershus have not yet decided whether to report the SMS.

On Twitter, Ruter wrote that the SMS says “Good evening all the people of Oslo! We are celebrating with the release of free tickets that apply to all zones of Oslo’s public transport’’.

Furthermore, the recipient of the SMS is asked to press a link. The public transport company warned against pressing on that link.
