Sale of frozen pizza increases

Norwegians eat more and more frozen pizza. So far this year we
have eaten 12% more than during the same period last year.

So far this year, deep-frozen pizza has been sold for NOK 773 million
in Norway, which is an increase of 12.2% from the corresponding period last year’’ said Nielsen’s market analysis agency to Nationen
newspaper.

“The growth rate of deep-frozen pizza has picked up recently and
is considerably stronger so far this year than last year at 26 weeks and the last 52 weeks” said Communications Manager, Gunnar Portvik in the agency to the newspaper.

Sales of the popular favourite, Grandiosa and Big One increased
by 3% in the first three months of the year Orkla said.

The import of pizza has increased since the Peppes Pizza brand came into the store’s freezers in February.

Earlier this month, the Agricultural Directorate said that in the first
quarter of this year, 3,581 tonnes of the Italian food specialty were
imported at a value of NOK 113 million.

This is an increase of 46% from the same period last year.

According to the industrial group, Scandza, Peppes Pizza, which they
own, has taken about 10% of the market within eight weeks.
