Sandefjord loses millions due to lost ferry traffic

Sandefjord expected a loss of NOK 12 million when the ferry traffic stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The loss will be much greater and the municipality must change plans.

Sandefjord municipality assumed that ferry traffic would not return to normal until early July. When the government has extended the travel restrictions and discourages entry to Sweden, the loss will be even greater, writes Sandefjords Blad.

In the budget for the port of Sandefjord, revenues of NOK 36 million were estimated for 2020, but so far the revenues are only NOK 7 million.

This means that the municipality must take from the harbor fund to cover, which means, among other things, that the planned renovation of the fishing quay must be postponed.
