Public transport had 2.9 million more travelers in the third quarter of this year than in the same period last year.

Preliminary figures show from Statistics Norway (SSB).

In total, close to 154 million trips were made by bus, boat, rail, tram and suburban rail in the third quarter – an increase of 1.9 percent.

Bus transport in particular is increasing and has had 3.5 million more travelers than in the same period last year.

For boats, tramways, suburban light railways and railways, however, there has been a slight decline, with a decline of 118,000 journeys – equivalent to 0.2 percent.

Looking at the first three quarters of the year together, statistics show that 7.3 million more travelers used public transport compared to the same period in 2018.
