Sharp decline in the number of bankruptcies in Norway registered in the third quarter of 2021

A total of 660 bankruptcy proceedings were initiated during the third quarter. That is a decrease of 17.5% compared with the same period last year.

A total of 660 bankruptcies were registered during the third quarter. That is a decrease of 17.5% compared with the same period last year.

The decline amounted to 140 bankruptcies, according to figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).

The largest percentage decline was registered in Troms og Finnmark, with 38% fewer bankruptcies.

In the third quarter, most bankruptcies were registered in the construction industry. A total of 155 companies and 47 sole proprietorships went bankrupt in the industry during July, August, and September.
