Sales of sports equipment over the counter fell by more than 12 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the same period last year, figures from the Norwegian Sports Industry Association show.

The figures show that sports equipment was sold over the counter for NOK 2.61 billion in the first quarter of the year, writes E24.

– “We have never seen such a big fall ever, it is absolutely unparalleled,” says CEO Trond Evald Hansen of the Norwegian Sports Industry Association.

It is estimated that around half of the revenue failure is due to the Coronavirus, while weak winter and bankruptcies, especially the Gresvig bankruptcy, contributed to the rest of the fall.
