An association of six Nordic banks has entered into an agreement with MasterCard to develop a new Nordic payment network across national borders and currencies.

The plan is to develop a payment network where you can use the phone to send money, regardless of which services you use and which country you live in.

The six banks Danske Bank, Nordea, SEB, Handelsbanken, Swedbank and Finnish OP Financial Group have collaborated under the name P27 Nordic Payment Platform. Now the association has announced a partnership with MasterCard.

This is a big step forward. By combining forces across the Nordic countries, we can develop payment solutions the individual countries could never make on their own. By sharing the cost, we will get a state-of-the-art payment infrastructure that is best in the class of speed and safety, says CEO Lars Sjögren P27 Nordic Payment Platform.
