Equinor chief Eldar Sætre took Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) on a supply boat and showed her the company’s new offshore wind project Empire Wind on Sunday morning.

In the bright sun, the boat sailed out from under the Verrazano bridge where they could look out onto the field, which Governor Andrew M. Cuomo awarded Norwegian Equinor in July.

Wearing orange lifejackets, Eldar Sætre and the wind power project manager told the prime minister about the plans for the wind farm, which will be located 22-48 kilometers southeast of Long Island.

The wind farm will deliver renewable energy to New York’s residents and help the state reach its ambitious goal of developing renewable energy.

When the project is expected to be completed in 2024, the wind farm will have the capacity to produce 1,000 to 1,500 megawatts of electricity. It is enough to supply around 1 million homes with electricity.

The Prime Minister is in New York in connection with the United Nations High Level Week.
