During the first quarter of the year, sports chains sold sports equipment worth NOK 3.3 billion in Norway. That is a record, according to the Norwegian Sports Industry Association.

The sports chains increased their turnover by 25% during the first three months of the year, newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN) writes.

“Never before has so much sports equipment been sold in the first quarter of the year,” CEO Trond Evald Hansen of the Norwegian Sports Industry Association told the newspaper.

The chains Sport 1 and Anton sport increased turnover by more than 64% in the first quarter.

“It is mainly due to the fact that we had a fantastic winter, and then, of course, there is the corona effect. When people do not have the opportunity to travel, they chose to use nature more,” general manager Ole Henrik Skirstad in Sport 1 Gruppen said.
