As Norway reopened this autumn, not surprisingly, both an increase in the number of jobs and a decline in unemployment were registered.
Prior to the introduction of the new infection control measures, the number of jobs increased by 2.1% from July to October. In the same period, unemployment fell from 4.3 to 3.6%, according to figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).
The seasonally adjusted figures show that the number of jobs increased by more than 62,000 from July to October, jobs approaching 3 million jobs.
The preliminary figures for November show a similar development.
Autumn unemployment
In the autumn of 2021, unemployment was on a par with the level seen before the corona crisis and characterized by high demand for labor.
In October, 69% of the population between the ages of 15 and 74 were working, up by 0.5% from July.
Statistics Norway will get an overview of how the December infection control measures affected the labor market in January.
