There were 115,000 unemployed people in Norway in August, figures from Statistics Norway (SSB) show. That is 29,000 fewer than in May.

Unemployment is now at about the same level as before the corona pandemic started, the figures from the Labor Force Survey (LFS) show.

Employment has also increased more than unemployment has fallen. That means that people who were previously completely out of work are now back at work, SSB writes. Seasonally adjusted figures show that there were 38,000 more employed people in August than in May.

Unemployment peaked in August last year, when 5.3% of people were out of work.

The LFS survey figures do not include persons who have been laid off for less than three months.
