Statkraft and the Norwegian supplier Ocean Sun are ready to start construction of the planned floating solar power pilot plant in Albania.
The pilot project has an investment limit of 2 million euros and will be built in the reservoir of Statkraft’s existing hydropower plant in Banja, the company said on Tuesday.
– “Now that all the approvals are in place, we have formally asked Ocean Sun to start Phase 1 of the construction project. We look forward to getting started with the construction during June,” says senior adviser Tom Kristian Larsen of Statkraft.
Phase 1 involves a complete floating solar power plant, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. It gets a power of 0.5 megawatts at standard test conditions (MWp). Phase 2 comprises three additional units, so that the total power will be 2 MWp by 2021.
