In the years 2015 to 2017, Petter Stordalen took out nearly half a billion in dividends from one of his holding companies, according to Dagens Næringsliv.

According to the newspaper, he thought that this should be tax-free. It now turns out that dividends during 2018 and 2019 have been classified as taxable income. For the years in question, Stordalen’s taxable income increases by NOK 487 million, and the tax bill increases by NOK 161 million.

“Petter has given the authorities enough information to make an assessment, and their assessment is that the income should be adjusted upwards,” Strawberry CFO Mads Bereder Koch wrote in an email.

According to the CFO, no penalty has been imposed.
