Strong growth in Norwegian oil exports

The start-up of Johan Sverdrup contributed to strong growth in Norwegian crude oil exports at the end of last year.

Exports of crude oil rose sharply in November and December 2019. The export value in December was the highest in five years and ended at NOK 28.2 billion, an increase of as much as 64.8 per cent compared with December 2018, Statistics Norway reports on Wednesday.

The start-up of the Johan Sverdrup field contributed significantly to this increase. The number of barrels exported increased by 35.5 percent from December 2018, ending at 48.5 million barrels.
