Norwegians have enjoyed ice cream during these summer months, and this year’s sales last beaten last year. Both Hennig-Olsen and Diplom-Is report growth.

– “Hennig-Olsen is very satisfied with the salse this summer. We had good growth in May and an adventurous growth in June,” says sales director John Kjellesvik in Hennig-Olsen to Nationen.

“The volume growth in liters is about 15 percent. It is especially the ice creams with Freia ingredients that have sold well this summer,” Kjellesvik states.

For Diplom-Ice, the growth in ice cream sales has been 21 percent, and May and June in particular stand out as the good ice months.

– “It is mainly due to nice and warm weather during that period, at the same time as society was gradually opened up. In addition, people have been home in Norway because of the Coronavirus, and then they have wanted to enjoy ice cream from Diplom-Is,” says Anne Borgen Sturød, who is marketing and product development director at Diplom-Is, to the newspaper.
