Travel Retail Norway, which operates the duty-free shops at the country’s largest airports, has laid off over 1,000 people. Hundreds of summer temps have been dismissed.

– This is about 80 per cent of employees, Travel Retail Norway said in a press release.

The company maintains a minimum of operations as long as there are passengers, they continue.

“We have waited as long as possible to spare our employees. But now the existence of the business is almost gone. If we are going to have a workplace to come back to when this crisis is over, we unfortunately have to do this now,” says CEO Tore Hov.

They are also dismissing over 200 summer temps.
