On Wednesday night, Telenor CEO Sigve Brekke announced to all employees that they could choose where to work from in the future and not have to physically meet at the workplace.

The experience of the Coronavirus outbreak was so positive that the CEO on Wednesday night sent an email to all employees. It says that the employee can choose for themselves where they want yo work from, whether at the office, from home or from their cabin, NRK writes.

Around 90 percent of Telenor’s 20,000 employees in nine countries have had a home office for the past two months during the Coronavirus outbreak.

– “This has been an eye-opener for other ways of working,” says Brekke.

– “This gives everyone flexibility and has proven to be more effective for us. We get to connect more people and break with the classic hierarchy of a company. I think this is the workplace of the future,” says Brekke.

He says it was important to make a decision that employees can continue with today’s scheme while still at home and not wait until people are back at the workplace.

In the future, he envisions a solution where employees meet at work for three days and stay home two days a week.
