Next week, the government will visit small businesses all over the country. The goal is to gain input into a new strategy for small and medium-sized companies.

On Tuesday, the government will start the tour, “Small business life”. The four party leaders in the government will meet around 50 companies at Hvelvet in Lillestrøm.

‘’We must recognise that there is great diversity in the country’s small and medium-sized businesses. If the policy is to hit the whole spectrum, it requires efforts across ministries and the entire government’’ said Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Høyre (H).

‘’Therefore, I have asked the ministers to prioritise meetings with small and medium-sized companies’’ said Solberg.

95% of all companies in Norway have less than 50 employees and more than one million employees work in these companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises account for almost half of the annual value creation.

Minister of Industry, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, said that these companies constitute the backbone of Norwegian business and industry.

‘’The ambition is that it will be even easier to start, run and get these companies to grow’’ said the Minister of Business and Industry.
