So far this year, there have been 1,035 reports of shortages of important medicines. Now the government will strengthen its readiness.

On Tuesday, the government sent a new bill for consultation aimed at strengthening drug readiness in Norway, writes VG.

The proposal will involve amendments to the Pharmacy Act, the Pharmacy Regulations and the Wholesale Regulations. It will give the Medicines Agency (Legemiddelverket) the right to ration important medicines and gain access to stocks throughout the country in order to limit the disadvantages to the population in the event of a shortage. The bill also means that parallel exports could be banned.
