The Government has decided to enter into negotiations with Widerøe, SAS, and Norwegian to extend the agreement on the state purchase of air routes from 1 October.

“Today we see that the contagion situation and the development of traffic in aviation still indicate that there is a need for government purchase of air routes,” says Transport Minister Knut Arild Hareide (KrF).

He adds that the government will extend the purchase of a minimum bid that will ensure the population and companies access to air routes.

The Transport Ministry’s agreements with the three airlines were first signed on 25 March and will last until June. Since then, new agreements were signed for July and August, which were again extended until 30 September.
