Around 3,800 bus drivers went on strike on Sunday morning, which paralyzes the bus service in Eastern Norway. LO leader Hans-Christian Gabrielsen believes the strike is fair.

– “This is a fair strike to correct financial imbalances and basic demands for security in everyday work. Bus drivers are an important professional group that binds the country together. Over the years, they have lagged behind in terms of pay and have had an increasingly unpredictable working day,” he says.

Gabrielsen points out that the bus drivers have been in the front line during the Coronavirus outbreak, and that the work they have done is important.

– “With the risk to their own health, they have stood up and driven our children to school and you and me to work. It is not voluntary to go down in salary,” he says.
