Labor Minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) urges employers who can, to offset unemployment benefits to temporarily laid-off workers to relieve Nav.

– “We ask whether the companies that have liquidity for them to pay the wages to the temporarily laid off employees for the first 20 days. That would be a great help and will ease the pressure at Nav,” says Isaksen to Dagens Næringsliv.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs promises that all companies that follow his request will receive every penny they spend back.

Navs are extremely overwhelmed with the 185,000 applicants that have applied to Nav for unemployment benefits.

Employees who are laid off receive 20 days’ salary up to 6G (NOK 600,000). The employer pays the first two days before the state takes the rest of the salary.
