State Secretary Ingelin Noresjø (Krf), had the honor of opening the new national road between Løten and Elverum on Thursday. The road was significantly cheaper than expected.

The price tag is at 5.5 billion kroner, which includes operation and maintenance for the next 20 years. This is 1.4 billion kroner cheaper than expected, writes the Norwegian Public Roads Administration in a press release.

-”The road has the country’s shortest construction time. Originally it was supposed to open on November 1 this year, but opened now after a construction time of 26 months, three months earlier.”, said the project leader, Taale Stensbye.

When Skanska received the road contract in 2018, The Norwegian Public Roads Administration said the contract is the largest ever made in Norway.

The new national road includes 16 kilometers with four-laned roads and nine kilometers with two-lane roads, and in addition 7.1 kilometers of sidewalk and bicycle roads.
