Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (SP) confirmed that the government would appoint a new central bank governor on Friday.
Vedum announced the news in the Norwegian parliament (Storting) on Wednesday.
“We will appoint a new central bank governor on Friday, with a press conference afterward,” he said.
Vedum did not provide details about the decision-making process or whether he expected a debate on the decision.
However, he promised to go into more detail when the appointment is made on Friday.
“I expect that good questions will be asked by journalists then and that Norway will have a good central bank governor,” Vedum added.
