Norway has three electrical ferry connections today, but Enova has supported the planning of 30 electric ferry connections across the country.
“New technologies can cut large volumes of pollution in next-generation ferries, and ferry connections are well-suited for electrification” said Øyvind Leistad, Director of Marketing and Development at Enova to Nationen newspaper.
The state-owned innovation company in climate change reducing technology has supported projects in Hordaland,Trøndelag,Troms, and Møre og Romsdal. In total, NOK 638 million has been allocated to these 30 projects.
“To get more suppliers on track and build this market further towards a low-emission society, it is important that clear signals from authorities and clients are given that electrification is the way to go” said Leistad.
