Sp leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum wants the government to ask farmers to produce more this year as a result of the Corona epidemic. The right is positive.

– “If the government cooperates with the industry, then it can increase Norwegian grain production, make a little more sow wheat, and generally produce a little more intensively to get longer crops,” Vedum tells the Nation.

The center party leader has sent a letter to the government asking them to consider dialogue with the farmers about increased production.

Hopefully, this is unnecessary, says Vedum, but says it is a contingency for an uncertain year.

Right-wing agriculture spokesman Guro Angell Gimse tells the newspaper that she is positive about Vedum’s proposal.

– “It can be good to take measures to secure us right this year, and we are doing that. Although I hope we don’t need to,” she says.
