Volkswagen has been Norway’s most purchased car brand every year since 2010. Overall, 2019 was a very good year for Volkswagen in Norway with 18,949 registered cars out of a total market of 142,381 passenger cars.

– “Thanks to a fantastic team effort from a very skilled dealer organization, 2019 was another success year for us at Volkswagen. 2020 will be an important year for us where we will launch several attractive models, not least ID.3 1ST,” says Volkswagen CEO Harald Edvardsen-Eibak.

It is both expected and gratifying that the electric car share in Norway is growing as fast as it does. We had a tremendous demand for both e-up! and e-Golf in 2019, with solid order books into 2020.

Volkswagen will launch the ID.-family, a series of zero-emission models, based on a brand new and future-oriented architecture. Volkswagen ID models will help us stay at the forefront when it comes to electric mobility, ”says Edvardsen-Eibak.

Volkswagen became the largest brand in the petrol and diesel segments.

Largest commercial vehicle for the 15th consecutive year

In 2019, Volkswagen was also by far the largest brand in the segment for vans under 3.5 tonnes. 10,603 registered cars during the year resulted in a market share of 28.1 percent, says Håkon Wirak, CEO of Volkswagen Utility Vehicles.

The two most popular vans in Norway are both Volkswagen models. At the top of the registration statistics, Transporter has 4,589 registered vehicles, while Caddy follows right behind with 4,205 registered vehicles in 2019.

“In addition, we delivered 581 passenger car-registered cars of the models Caravelle, Caddy and Amarok, 64 buses and 28 Crafters over 3.5 tonnes, which means that Volkswagen Utility vehicles delivered a total of 11,276 cars in 2019,” says Wirak.

– “It is gratifying that we are once again Norway’s most popular workplace on four wheels. Good work throughout the organization combined with class-leading products makes us stay on top. We delivered an entire 1,028 Amarok, not least thanks to the delivery to Defense Materials. It is with pride and humility that we were chosen as the supplier of Defense Material for Volkswagen Amarok, which is the largest single contract from our importer of all time.”

Not only that, VW is also the largest car company in the world (surprisingly not Toyota).
