Volkswagen Golf is at the top of the sales statistics for new and used cars in Norway last year. The Golf was sold a total of 18,927 times in 2020.

“The best-selling new car in 2020 was the Audi e-Tron. But when you look at new and used cars combined, more than twice as many Volkswagen Golfs were sold,” communications manager Camilla Ryste at the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) noted.

Volkswagen Golf was followed by Nissan Leaf (14,744), BMW 3 Series (13,709), Volkswagen Passat (13,650), Toyota RAV4 (12,836), Toyota Yaris (12,637), Volkswagen e-Golf (12,312), Audi e-tron (11,158) , Audi A4 (10,757) and BMW 5 Series (10,725).

“The used car market was record high last year with 520,000 used car purchases. Four out of five cars sold in Norway are used cars,” Ryste added.

The cars most often registered last year were the Audi e-Tron (9,227), Tesla Model 3 (7,770), Volkswagen ID. 3 (7,754), Nissan Leaf (5,221), and Volkswagen Golf (5,221).

A total of 20,574 new passenger cars, out of which 13,718 zero-emission cars, were registered in Norway in 2020.
