Vy has canceled all night trains on the Bergen railway this summer as a result of passenger failure.

– “Right now, 85 percent of our passengers are gone. We do not have enough customer base to run all departures, which is why we have set the night trains,” communications manager Nina Hauge Schage confirms to NRK.

According to Vy, the night trains will be set up again as soon as the company believes the customer base is adequate, provided the Coronavirus outbreak is under control.

Vy further justifies the decision that on board the night trains there are more contact areas and thus more difficult to comply with infection control measures. In addition, there is a demand for more cleaning on the trains.

The decision was made in collaboration with the Railway Directorate.

Go Ahead, who runs the Sørlandsbanen, and Svenska Järnvegar (SJ) have started night trains again, but this summer SJ will only run night trains on weekends on the Dovrebane.
