Yara buys Finnish fertilizer manufacturer
The fertilizer manufacturer Yara has acquired the Finnish company Ecolan, which produces organic fertilizer, for an undisclosed sum.
Yara and Ecolan have already collaborated for several years on nutrient recycling and the development of organic fertilizers used in agriculture and forestry, Yara wrote in a press release on Wednesday. The Finnish company has 21 employees and two production facilities in Finland.
Yara did not reveal the purchase price for the takeover. With the acquisition, the plans are to expand sales of the fertilizer outside Finland.
“Our main competence is to produce fertilizer in the most sustainable and efficient way, whether this is for organic farming or conventional farming,” Executive Vice President Mónica Andrés in Yara Europe stated.
