This spring, over 400,000 Norwegians were laid off or lost their jobs when the corona pandemic started. Nine months later, 21% of those affected are still without a job. The situation is the worst in Oslo.

The majority of the nearly 400,000 who lost their jobs in March and April have started working again.

But 83,920 of them, corresponding to 21%, were still job seekers in November, according to newspaper Klassekampen.

The situation is the worst in Oslo, where 29% of those who became unemployed in March and April are still unemployed. That amounts to 8,858 people.

Gloomy figures

Viken is in second place with 23%, Vestland is in third place with 22%, and Rogaland follows with 20%.

Nordland and Møre og Romsdal have the lowest number of those who are still unemployed, with 15%.

As many as 38% of those who worked in tourism and transport are still unemployed.

In Oslo, those who work in the nightlife industry are the most affected.
