The police state that the perpetrator at Bislett was known to the police from before.
“He was known to the police from before, but the relatives have not been notified, so the police do not want to comment further,” police inspector Egil Jørgen Brekke stated in a press release on Tuesday.

He says that it seems that the police have intervened early in a serious incident and averted further stabbing attacks.
“For us, this looks like a stand-alone act so that there is no reason to fear for the safety in the city,” Brekke says.
“As we have said, this is a person who is known to us from the past… Based on that, we currently believe that this is not an act of terrorism – but, at the same time, we do not rule anything out,” he added.
