Deputy leader and fiscal policy spokesperson Tina Bru in the Conservative Party (H) believes it would be unwise to appoint Jens Stoltenberg as central bank governor.

“I see that there has been considerable concern about what the possible appointment of Jens Stoltenberg would mean for Norges Bank’s independence. There is also significant unrest in the Conservative Party,” Tina Bru told the newspaper DN.

Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg has previously stated that a professional debate is needed on hiring a prominent politician from a government party.

Tina Bru, for her part, this Stoltenberg should not become central bank governor.

“My personal opinion is that the debate in recent months has shown that there is too much doubt about what the appointment of Stoltenberg would mean for the independence of Norges Bank for it to be a wise appointment.”
