Minister of Climate and Environment Espen Barth Eide (AP) is pleased that the final declaration from the climate summit in Glasgow was finally adopted.
“The climate summit in Glasgow is a big step in the right direction. The countries of the world agree that we must strengthen our efforts to reach the 1.5-degree goal.
“We need an even faster transition to renewable energy and technology,” Eide noted in a statement.
“On the way there, the world must phase out coal and stop using fossil subsidies. It is a collective responsibility for everyone to contribute to ensuring a viable climate in the future.
“At the same time, we will support the developing countries’ ability to meet and combat climate change,” he accentuated.
