Two young Equinor employees were seriously injured when a gas bottle exploded on an oil platform in 2019. Equinor has now been fined NOK 3 million for the incident.
The two people, a 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, were sent to the hospital after a portable gas bottle exploded on a platform on the Heimdal oil field on November 28, 2019.
The police’s investigation of the accident has now been completed, E24 writes.
The investigation concludes that the company committed violations of the safety regulations in regard to lack of competence and training.
Equinor has accepted the fine, and the company points out that its own investigation of the accident is in line with the conclusions of the police investigation.
