Sales of electric cars accounted for 19% of all new cars sold in Denmark in August. That is a new record.

Figures on the number of plug-in hybrids, cars that can run on both fossil fuels and electricity, accounted for 40% of car sales – twice as high as in the same month last year.

“The Danes can now choose from several electric car models, which has been crucial for the development,” Mads Rørvig, director in the industry organization De Danske Bilimportører, noted.
