There is nothing comparable to Swedish conditions, but it’s a serious situation we have to deal with said the Riksadvokaten on the development of gang crime in the Oslo area.

On Tuesday,Tor-Axel Busch met the police chiefs in Oslo and the Eastern area, the chief of Cripos and the state prosecutor in Oslo to hear about how they tackle the fight against criminal gangs.

The attorney general said after the meeting that it is a long way from there being areas where the police can not enter, but said that they should never exist in Norway either.

“It’s a long time before we have so-called ‘Swedish conditions’in Norway, but we will not have those in our country,” Busch told NTB news.

It was Busch who called the meeting, which was held at his office.

“The purpose of the meeting is to get an updated and honest situation description, discuss and coordinate the further task allocation, as well as to ensure that the entire agency, both at a strategic and an operational level, pulls in the same direction” wrote the National Attorney General’s Office in an email to NTB news on Monday. Furthermore, the gang problem is being closely followed and is part of the Riksadvokat’s key priorities.

‘’Violence, threats, and other crimes that we experience in these environments create insecurity in the population and are something we pay attention to with the greatest seriousness,’’ said the statement.
