A fire revealed a big cannabis plantation in Nærbø in Hå Municipality in Rogaland on Monday. One person is charged and risks a lengthy prison sentence.

On Monday, a house in Nærbø was completely destroyed in a fire. Inside the house, the fire brigade found a cannabis plantation, the newspaper Jærbladet writes.

“The police come across such plantations every now and then, but it is a bit out of the ordinary when it happens in connection with a fire,” police attorney Tor Arvid Bruskeland at the Southwestern Police District told the newspaper.

One person was quickly arrested and is now charged. The police have requested four weeks of custody for the man.

The penalty for such offenses is imprisonment of ten years. Police believe that the man must have grown around 400 cannabis plants in the house.
