In 2020, 115,000 children in Norway belonged to a household with a persistently low income. This is a proportion of 11.7% of all children in the country.

The share of children in Norway who belonged to a household with a persistently low income has remained stable since 2019, but Statistics Norway (SSB) points out that this is the highest level they have observed in the period for which they have statistics.

To be considered a household with persistent low income, the income must have been low over three years.

As many as six out of ten children in low-income households have an immigrant background.
