A major power outage hit around 68,000 households between Sarpsborg and Ski on Tuesday morning, the network provider Elvia stated.

Communications manager Morten Schau in Elvia told news bureau NTB that the fault may be in the Tegneby transformer station that Statnett operates at Son.

All households between Ski and Sarpsborg lost power on Tuesday morning.

“Everyone on this stretch is affected… At most, 68,000 households were without electricity (at one moment).

52,000 households without electricity

“Now we are gradually phasing in customers again. A total of 52,000 households are without electricity now,” communications manager Morten Schau in Elvia told NTB at 7:45 AM.

Customers who are affected by the massive power outage will receive information via SMS.

Bane Nor informed NTB that train traffic was also affected by the power outage.

There is a lower voltage in their power system, and the trains have to run slower on the stretch, which will cause delays.
