Police in Oslo have arrested and charged a 41-year-old man for serious sexual assaults on two girls in 2000. The DNA profile was taken in a different context that but police believe it linked him to the case.
The man was arrested Monday, said Oslo police. The girls were six and seven years old when the abuse allegedly occurred in the afternoon on June 20th 2000 in a grove at Tiur Leiken kindergarten at Romsås in Oslo.
DNA sample
The suspect is a 41 year old Norwegian man living in Romerike. Police took a DNA sample from him in connection with bootlegging which he was convicted for.
Police have charged the man for the sexual violation. At the time when it happened. The sexual abuse of the children was when they were under 16 years old, said police attorney Lene Hammersland.
– We have evaluated it and find that the case is not to old
The charges Correspond to the current rape charges
The charges the man is indicted for, correspond to paragraph 299 of the current Criminal Code, which forbids the rape of children under 14 years old.
When police in late June 2000 released information about a rape case in Romsås, where the perpetrator was described as probably Norwegian and aged 30-40 years. They expanded their description saying, He had dark, short hair and brown eyes. His vehicle was described a white Volvo station wagon, which police believed could be linked to the case.
