The “Stop the war in Ukraine” petition campaign has gathered more than a million signatures, and the majority of them are from Russians.

As of on Thursday afternoon, approximately 1.1 million people had signed the campaign on Change.org, started by human rights activist Lev Ponomarjov, CNN reports.

In addition, the website “We are not alone” shows an overview of various signature campaigns from nearly 30 different industry organizations against the war. They represent, among others, academics, artists, journalists, musicians, economists, and a number of other professions. According to “We are not alone,” close to 100,000 people have signed these petitions.

A number of Russian celebrities have previously spoken out against the war.

The organization SmåRådina has collected 190 signatures from Russians living in Norway in a letter asking Russia’s ambassador to condemn the invasion.
