On Monday, Oslo’s Mayor Marianne Borgen (SV) will probably decide who to appoint to form a new City Council.
“I have asked for feedback from the parties by Monday. I think it is realistic that I will be ready to point out who I think is best suited to ensure stable management of the city then,” Borgen told newspaper Aftenposten.
The red-green City Council led by Raymond Johansen (AP) resigned on Wednesday due to the no-confidence motion against environmental councilor Lan Marie Berg (MDG).
It is the mayor’s responsibility to appoint a new City Council leader. In practice, Borgen can either point to Johansen or the Conservative Party’s group leader Anne Haabeth Rygg.
But since there is still a red-green majority in the City Council, Johansen is likely to take up the position again and assemble a new City Council.
