Norway’s Green Party: The new electricity support scheme rewards high power consumption

The electricity support scheme benefits those with high power consumption, the Green Party (MDG) warns,

The party is disappointed with parts of the agreement. The MDG’s acting parliamentary leader Rasmus Hansson emphasized that he is happy that help is coming to those who are struggling with electricity bills.

“But I am disappointed that the (government’s) agreement with the SV still rewards those with high electricity consumption. It benefits those with large properties the most. Instead, you could give more to those who have the least,” he said.

The MDG believes that the limit for using electricity support should be a maximum of 3,000 kWh, not 5,000 kWh, as the government parties and SV have agreed.
