Police in several parts of the country warn against answering calls from telephone number 112. They emphasize that the police never call from the emergency number.

Police believe this is a scam and believe the goal is for people to call back to a telecommunications service, writes NRK.

The West, South-East, East and Agder police districts have so far warned against the telephone number on Friday afternoon.

The police are NOT calling from these lines. We urge you not to answer these calls, West police district writes on Twitter.

“We recommend that people do not answer the phone if that number rings, but if someone accidentally does answer the phone, then at least they do not have to disclose personal information,” says operations manager Stein Rune Halleraker in the Western police district to Bergensavisen.

The Police Directorate states that there were similar incidents last weekend and that there is technology that allows scammers to choose which number to show up on the phone being called.
