SSB: Unemployment in Norway continues to fall

Unemployment in Norway fell to 3.2% in May, down 0.2% from February, according to seasonally adjusted figures from Statistics Norway’s (SSB) labor force survey.

From February to May this year, there were 5,000 fewer unemployed people. In the same period, there were 0.37% more jobs.

Unemployment decreased from 3.4% in February 2022 to 3.2% in May.

In May, there were 93,000 unemployed people between the ages of 15 and 74 in Norway. A total of 2,857,000 people are employed. There are 15,000 more people at work now than in February, which means that the workforce has increased.

Temporary increase in the number of jobs

According to preliminary figures for June, there was an increase of 0.22% in the number of jobs in Norway from the previous month. There was also an increase in the number of workers, of 0.17%.

In the country as a whole, there are 2,706,310 workers and 3,012,460 jobs. A year ago, there were 2,579,000 workers and 2,842,050 jobs, so the number of workers has risen by 4.9%, and the number of jobs has risen by 6%.
